Is counselling confidential? Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling
and what is said remains between client and counsellor. However, all counsellors are required to discuss with their
supervisor (who is also subject to the same rules of confidentiality), any concerns they have about a client. There
are also certain rare circumstances where the counsellor may have to break confidentiality, where the client is at risk
to himself or others.
How long will counselling last? Each session lasts around 1 hour, but there are no rules about
how many sessions to have and this very much depends on you. During your initial session this is something we would
discuss and you may decide you want just a few sessions of goal focused work, or longer term counselling to explore deeper
underlying issues.
How much will it cost? My fees are £35 per hour, concessions are sometimes available and this can be discussed at our first meeting. The initial session is free, this is to allow us to discuss your expectations of counselling and make sure working together
is the right choice.
And Finally..... Making that initial contact can be quite daunting, but if would like to find out more about how
counselling may benefit you please contact me, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have to help
you decide whether counselling is for you at this moment in time. You can leave a message on my confidential answerphone
and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
